The geoduck semi-autonomous diving ‘hookah’ type fishery began as a commercial fishery in 2004 with 5 fishing permits and has since expanded to 194 permits. Atenea en el Mar remains committed to enhancing the sustainability of the fishery in the Gulf of California to secure a better future for future generations. Despite the current inactivity of the FIP, Atenea en el Mar is actively addressing challenges while serving on the board of the National Chamber of the Fishing Industry.
Cedepesca is a non-profit organization founded in 1997 with the specific objective of helping Latin American fisheries achieve sustainability.The main tool we use are Fisheries Improvement Projects. We form a multidisciplinary group of professionals distributed in strategic locations in Latin America and the Caribbean, together with a passion for research.
