We operate with purse seines with control by ICCAT and national authorities using video records, observer and regular inspection. Every fishing operation records an electronic bluefin tuna catch document.
Every fishing operation is registered and a document of Blue fin tuna catch is issued by the authorities. Any illegal, unreported or unregulated fishing will have no document. Balfego operates with stock assessment and co-management plan in place along with best fishing practices to ensure alignment to animal welfare principles
