Ensuring food security and reducing poverty by increasing fish supply and income
In Uganda, the Responsible Fisheries Business Chains Project (RFBCP) forms part of GIZ’s global program on sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. GIZ is dedicated to enhancing food security and reducing poverty by improving fish supply and income. RFBCP concentrates on sustainable fisheries management with focus on Nile Perch in Lake Victoria and Lake Kyoga.
GIZ-RFBCP as a member of the GSSI Seafood MAP taskforce assessed and selected producers in Uganda to ensure that their sustainability measures align with the project’s objectives. The successful producers were then supported to register on the Seafood MAP.
